The widow and her son who lived at Zarephath in Sidon testify their experience of God's faithfulness (1 Kings 17:8-16).
The family's abundant life came to an end when a severe famine struck the community they lived in. The family came to a point when they used up everything they had, lost their hope to live, and were ready to embrace death. However, the timely intervention and prayer of prophet Elijah, on God's command, saved the family from their life-threatening situation.
On another occasion, prophet Elisha became instrumental for God's provision for the widow and the two sons of one of his deceased disciples (2 Kings 4:1-7). However, the timely intercession of prophet Elisha saved this family from their challenging situation.
In both widows' cases, prophets Elijah and Elisha became instrumental and they interceded for others and God supplied the needs of the people.
As believers, we need to pray for the emotional, spiritual, physical and material needs of others!
