Answer in the Cup

In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed, “take this cup away from me.”

Jesus knew He would eventually have to drink this cup. In fact it was the very purpose of His coming! Then why did He pray this prayer?

Jesus, the Son of God, knew His death was inevitable, but Jesus, the son of man, needed the courage to walk into His purpose.

Was this prayer answered? It depends on where you are looking for it. The answer was not in the cup; it was within Jesus Himself. Look at the verse continuing: “Yet not what I will, but what you will."

We think our prayers are not answered because we are looking for answers in the cup. The answer God has promised, the power to walk into our purpose, is within us, not around us!
