Teach Us To Pray

Imagine Jesus comes to you in person and says: “I am willing to teach you one of the many things I have done. What would you want to learn?”

I don’t know how many things are there in your wish list, but what the disciples asked was: “Lord, teach us to pray.” In fact that is the only thing the disciples ever asked Jesus to teach them.

I would have asked for something more real, tangible or even spectacular. My personal favorite would be walking on water. Imagine, defying gravity and walking across the ocean all the way to India. That is something worth asking for!

But the disciples had a ‘behind the scene’ view of Jesus’ ministry. They had seen Him spending countless hours of time in prayer. They knew if they had learnt how to pray, they would automatically learn how to do everything else. Prayer is that one miracle that makes all other miracles happen!
