The Lord taught His disciples many secrets about the kingdom of God in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 5-7. He focuses on the acts of righteousness expected of a child of God in Matthew 6:1-18.

God focuses on three things while explaining these acts:

  1. True Giving
  2. Acceptable Prayers
  3. Genuine Fasting

We know that whatever we do on earth is under the surveillance of the omniscient and omnipresent God. Human beings usually look at the outward acts but God looks at the intentions of our hearts.

What matters the most is not how big our offerings are but how sacrificial they are. Whatever we do should produce a thundering effect in heaven.

Our constant and systematic prayers done in secret are more effective in the eyes of God. May our spirits always be in touch with our Heavenly Father in our daily walk with Him.

Finally, our fasting should bring intimacy with God, which would please heaven to do something special for us on a daily basis.

God is with us and expects us to be righteous in all our ways and acts. May the good LORD enable us to lead a life that will bring a smile to His face and glorify His name. It may ultimately store up rewards for us in heaven.

May God help us to give more sacrificially, fast and pray more intimately.
