When You Stand For the Word of God
When you become a child of God, you also become a soldier on the battlefield. The Israelites in the book of Exodus encountered physical battles—Early Church believers fought spiritual battles and met many challenges (Ephesians 6:12).
Three young Jews faced challenges for standing firm on the Word of God in a foreign land.
- They faced an unfavorable atmosphere (Daniel 3:19-22). When you stand for the Word of God, the world stands against you. The King of Babylon became angry and adverse toward the three young Hebrew men. When you live on the world’s terms, the world will love you. But when you live on God’s terms as His child, the world is going to hate you (John 15:18-19). It is only with God’s allowance that the enemy can come against His children for a limited time with intense attacks. They don’t understand the sovereign plan of God (cf. Luke 23:12)
- The Word of God changes the atmosphere (Daniel 3:25-27). When you stand for the Word of God, it changes the atmosphere in a supernatural way. The Word of God opened the eyes of the king. He saw the sovereignty and power of God over the natural. The unfavorable atmosphere prepared the ground for God to move. The King had the Jewish young men thrown into the fire, but Real Fire (Presence of God) enveloped them. This Fire of God overpowers natural fire. The Fire of God burned down all their bondages without harming them.
Sometimes God allows circumstances to come against you; your so-called opponents to overpower you; and even lets you experience oppression. You may feel hopeless and helpless in your fiery situation. The Real Fiery presence of God becomes very active when we stand for the Word of God.
Remember, the Lord allows his children to be humbled publically so that they may be honored publically (Daniel 3:28-30). Allow the Word to act on your behalf. Allow the Word to transform you and your situation completely.
